PETERBOROUGH COUNTY– A new food service business for seniors will bring a chef to their door.
Sugar|Caine Catering is now in operation, and owner and Red Seal chef Stacey Caine is ready to work with seniors on developing meal plans based on their choices. Ms Caine will go into a client’s home to create meals that they choose while giving them the choice to help in the preparation. She says this is a unique service because most meal providers don’t supply meals in consultation with the client that are prepared by a professional chef at a reasonable price.
“Many seniors are able to live in their own homes. Often they are unable to cook quality meals, especially in one-person households,” says Ms Caine. “This creates a downward spiral that can be avoided. The benefit of my service is I will be in the client’s home with them, creating meals that they choose… no one else will provide that.”
She adds she has seen too often seniors who sell their homes and spend all their savings to move into a retirement residence because they feel that was their only option.
“I’m here to provide an alternative that will allow them to remain in their own homes,” says Ms Caine.
Ms Caine feels her approach of “companion cooking” could well be the way of the future for seniors and families.
